Daruma Project

Darumas are Japanese votive dolls, the result of an ancient legend. Their peculiarity is the absence of pupils. The custom is that on the first of the year a wish is expressed and only one eye is colored. If the wish comes true, the other eye can also be filled, otherwise it will be thrown into a large bonfire in the center of the city along with all the other darumas who have not fulfilled the requested desire. This video, to sponsor Manuela Bucci's ceramic works, tells the desire of a Daruma: to travel to discover a new self.
